Summer Nutrition & Wellness Instructor6-week program | Ages 5–7 and 9–12 | ~100 students total
Led engaging, age-appropriate health and nutrition lessons based on the USDA MyPlate model, focusing on the five major food groups: Vegetables, Fruits, Grains, Protein, and Dairy.
Facilitated hands-on fruit and vegetable tastings to encourage trying new foods and build healthy eating habits.
Delivered interactive lessons on hydration and its importance for maintaining overall health and energy.
Organized active learning games, including movement-based guessing activities where students identified foods by category (e.g., protein, grain) through physical activity and play.
Incorporated literacy through nutrition-themed word searches and vocabulary games to reinforce reading and comprehension skills.
Taught two separate age groups (5–7 and 9–12) in 1-hour sessions, adapting content and activities to match developmental levels.
Fostered a positive and energetic learning environment that promoted healthy lifestyle choices and teamwork.
Outcome: Successfully engaged nearly 100 students in nutrition education and physical activity, promoting awareness of balanced eating and wellness in a fun, interactive format.
